This Well tank locomotive, meaning the water tank is between the frames, was built in 1895 in Chemintz, Germany. This loco, currently displayed in our Engine House was a firm favourite of the crews. Looking at the photograph, you can see how all the parts are easily accessible, and there was no crawling underneath in hot and cramped spaces! Unfortunately, a crack in the tank’s well took this loco out of service at the Middleton Railway.Â
