This engine previously worked for the North Eastern Railway, the London and North Eastern Railway, then Pelaw Main colliery and Watergate colliery. These small but mighty locomotives were designed to haul 500tonnes on the straight and level, but spent thier time moving wagons around the docklands in the North East, ideally suited to railways with  tight curves.

The cab on these locos is so short, we had to shorten a shovel to enable the crew to shovel coal!
