The story of the 100 year history of Broom Pit, the last colliery to be sunk in South Leeds together with that of the Middleton Railway which served the colliery.
The history also covers the communities of ‘old Belle Isle and Middleton which housed many of the mine workers and is enlivened by remembrances of working in the colliery and of life in Belle Isle and Middleton.
The book contains 107 illustrations covering the subject matter plus drawings and details of the locomotives which once worked at Broom pit. The book is as much an industrial history as a social history.
