Yorkshire in Bloom 2023

Middleton Railway is delighted to announce it won a GOLD award at the Yorkshire in Bloom annual awards ceremony held in Tadcaster on Thursday 28th September.

This is the 4th successive GOLD award and reflects the hard work put in by our Head Gardener, Mick Jackson, and his team of volunteers who have continuously improved the railways’ floral displays over the years.  New planters have been introduced in the car park area, along with insect “Bug Hotels” and extra nesting boxes for wild birds.  Also, wild flower seeds have been spread in areas around the railway to help improve the local flora and fauna.

Work is already in hand for the 2024 season, and the railway will enter the Yorkshire in Bloom competition again, hopefully to secure another GOLD award.

Chairman Charles Milner said “Congratulations are due to Mick and his team for getting the deserved reward for all the hard work that went into making the Moor Road Site look so attractive and for all the effort that went into preparing the booklet and application to enter Yorkshire in Bloom 2023.
