The safety of our volunteers and visitors is our top priority. We are limiting the capacity on our trains, and allocating seats so as to ensure social distancing. The following measures have also been put in place.

  • Till screens at the Moor Road station.
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes on our trains and at the Moor Road station.
  • Encouraging contactless/card payments at the Moor Road station (but cash payments can be accepted).
  • Sanitising stations at entry points and other strategic locations.
  • Floor markings and signage to remind everyone of social distancing and safety measures.

There is no longer a legal requirement for you to wear a face covering, but out of consideration for other visitors and passengers we do ask you to wear one within the Engine House building at Moor Road and on the train.

Because the availability of our volunteers had been limited by the corona virus pandemic, we had to take some facilities out of use, but we are working to re-instate these as soon as possible. In particular, from the end of July we will be able to reserve a coach for a morning or afternoon for a party.

No. For 2021 we have decided that, for our normal train services, we do not need to make any provision for advance bookings.

Yes, we are dog friendly at the Middleton Railway and they travel free of charge. We kindly ask that your dog stays on a lead at all times and does not sit on the carriage seats.

Yes, certainly – particularly if you are going to get off the train at Middleton Park, where there are plenty of good picnic spots. We kindly ask that you either dispose of your rubbish in one of our bins, or take it home with you, to help us maintain cleanliness around the railway.
