Harry was built in 1965 by John Fowler & Co of Leeds. Upon completion it was delivered to the British Industrial Sugar (BIS) factory in Wissington (Norfolk) where it replaced two primitive steam locomotives.

In 1981 it gained the name ‘Ivor’ which was roughly painted above the radiator grille. This name would be retained when it moved to another BIS factory in Woodston (Peterborough) in 1982. This move was prompted following the end of rail traffic at the Wissington factory.

In 1991, with the end of rail traffic at the Wissington, it moved to what would become the Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough where it reportedly gained the name ‘Lois’. In 1996 it would move again, this time to the Northampton Ironstone Railway Museum where it would remain until 2007.

Having been purchased privately by a member, it moved to the Middleton Railway. After briefly moving under its own power, Harry went straight into the workshop for a full repaint and fitment of vacuum brake equipment. During this overhaul it also received new tyres and the name ‘Harry’.

Harry is now part of the core operational diesel locomotive fleet being used on diesel service days and for shunting.
