91 Brush/Beyer Peacock 0-4-0DE built 1958

D2999 at Park Halt

This locomotive was the very first Brush/Beyer Peacock 0-4-0 Diesel to be built. It was built for the Steel Company of South Wales in 1958. The design was a standard Brush design and the loco was built as Brush Works No. 91 (Beyer Peacock No. 7856).
The locomotive came to the Middleton Railway on permanent loan from British Steel in 1987.

During the winter of 2002/3 the locomotive was repainted in Brunswick green to represent its long-scrapped sister loco, BR prototype D2999, which was the only loco of this type to work for British Rail (at Stratford depot).
