2103 Peckett 0-4-0ST built 1948

2103 on a goods train at Moor Road

2103 was one of three identical 'R4 Special' 0-4-0STs built in 1948 and sent to the CEGB power station at Croydon. It has a low cab which enabled it to work in the power station 'tippler house'.

After the power station closed in 1980, the locomotive was brought to Middleton Railway. Since then, it has been to the premises of the Great Yorkshire Preservation Society near Harrogate and to Murton, near York, before returning to Middleton in 1996.

Following an overhaul, the locomotive, which is privately owned, was returned to service during the 1999 season.
